Shoe Line Concepts
Three conceptual lines of shoes and apparel for Vans.
Dapper Days
This line of shoes and matching apparel for men is designed for Vans and is inspired by mid-century modern design and the work of Charles and Ray Eames.
For this project I designed two different lines of shoes and apparel for men. The patterns for each line are inspired by classic mid-century textiles. The shoes are a redesign of a brogue shoe, with a mixture of the traditional Vans canvas and leather with ornamental perforations. Each line also has a button-up shirt and tie to complete the look.
Ugly Christmas Sweaters
This holiday line of shoes and matching apparel is designed for Vans and is inspired by ugly Christmas sweaters.
The pattern is made up of reindeer doing various things. It is designed to look like a generic holiday pattern at first glance, then reveal some humorous elements upon a closer look.
Steam Powered
Inspired by Steampunk, this line of shoes designed for Vans is a new approach to their footwear.
Steampunk is a genre of science fiction set in Victorian era England that focuses on industrial, steam powered machinery. By adding buckled straps that wrap around the shoe, a large zipper on the back, and rings for the laces that mimic the lacing on a corset, these designs embrace the idea of Steampunk and are now “Steam Powered”.
